What is Myofascial Release?

This is a gentle hands on therapeutic technique that releases the fascia in the body.  Each release is held for 5 minutes using gentle pressure to sink into the fascia system and work into the restricted region.

What is fascia?

Fascia is a band or sheet of connective tissue beneath the skin that attaches, stabilizes, encloses, and separates muscles and other internal organs.  It is what gives our body structure and surrounds every living thing in the body.

How does the fascia become restricted?

The fascia can become restricted by physical and emotional stress on the body.  When fascia becomes restricted, it can create pain, potential swelling, decreased range of motion, and lameness.

What are some benefits for having Myofascial Release done on my horse?

* Increasing range of motion

* Relieves tension

* Reduces inflammation and swelling in joints

* Decreases pain

* Improve gain

* Help bones align that may be out slightly due to the restriction in the fascia

* Help digestion

What are signs my horse may need this therapeutic technique?

If you notice behavioral issues that aren't normal for the horse, kicking out when saddling or brushing, not traveling the same as normal, shortened strides, doesn't bend as well one way, goes one direction better than the other, or loss of ambition.

How long do sessions last?

Most sessions take 60 minutes, however some horses may need longer sessions, and this will be explained why and payment will be adjusted.

When can I ride my horse after their release?

I would give the horse a full 24 hours off to give the body time to fully release and settle into the release.  After 24 hours, you may continue to ride normal riding for you and your horse.

How often should a horse have this therapeutic technique done?

It truly depends on the horse.  I recommend every 6 weeks, for horses that are getting used regularly, to help with maintaining the fascia, but it is totally up to the owner.

 What is the price?

* Myofascial Releases session is $60 per horse unless over 75 minute sessions then will increase $15/15 minutes.

* Travel fees are $.50/mile after 20 miles from my home.  If a place has 4 horses or more and is within 2 hours (130 miles) of my home then travel fees are waved.  Anything outside of 2 hours (130 miles) and has 4 horses or more the rate is $.30/mile.
